Applications of Gauss's Theorem

Asked by Ajit Kewal · 2 years ago

How is Gauss's Theorem applied to calculate the electric field due to a uniformly charged sphere?

1 Answer

To calculate the electric field due to a uniformly charged sphere using Gauss's Theorem, you consider a Gaussian surface in the form of a sphere concentric with the charged sphere. By symmetry, the electric field is radially outward and the same at every point on the Gaussian surface. Applying Gauss's Law, you can solve for the electric field at any point inside or outside the charged sphere.
