Asked by Neeta K · 2 years ago

Which are the main classes within the phylum Coelenterata and how do they differ?

1 Answer

The phylum Coelenterata is divided into three main classes: Hydrozoa, Scyphozoa, and Anthozoa. Hydrozoans typically have both polyp and medusa stages, Scyphozoans are mostly medusae, and Anthozoans exist only as polyps. Examples include Hydra (Hydrozoa), jellyfish (Scyphozoa), and corals (Anthozoa).
