Components of Androecium

Asked by Rukhsar Ahmedullah · 2 years ago

What are the different components of the androecium and their functions?

1 Answer

The androecium consists of multiple stamens, and each stamen has two main parts:

  1. Anther: The anther is the part of the stamen that produces pollen grains. It contains pollen sacs where meiosis occurs to form these grains.
  2. Filament: The filament is a slender stalk that supports the anther and positions it in a way that facilitates the transfer of pollen to visiting pollinators or directly to the stigma.

Together, these components ensure the production and delivery of pollen for the process of fertilization.
