What is a parsec and what does it measure?

1 Answer

A parsec is a unit of distance used in astronomy. It is defined as the distance at which one astronomical unit (AU) subtends an angle of one arcsecond. One parsec is approximately equal to 3.26 light-years or 3.086 × 10^13 kilometers. Parsecs are used to measure vast distances in space, particularly between stars and galaxies.
