Difference Between NEET and NCERT Syllabus

Asked by Prakash Sengupta · 2 years ago

Is there any difference between the NEET syllabus and the NCERT syllabus? If so, what are the key differences I should be aware of?

1 Answer

The NEET syllabus is largely based on the NCERT syllabus for Classes 11 and 12 but there are some additional topics and a different focus in certain areas. Here are some key points:

  • Overlap: Most of the NEET syllabus is covered by the NCERT textbooks. This includes core concepts in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
  • Additional Topics: While the majority of topics are the same, NEET may include some additional topics not covered in the NCERT syllabus. It is advisable to refer to the detailed NEET syllabus provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for any additional topics.
  • Depth of Understanding: NEET requires a deeper understanding and application of concepts compared to the NCERT exams. You may need to go beyond NCERT textbooks and refer to additional reference books for practice problems and conceptual clarity.
  • Exam Pattern: The NEET exam pattern is different from the regular school exams, focusing more on multiple-choice questions and application-based questions.

It's crucial to follow the NCERT textbooks as your primary source but also keep an eye on the NEET-specific topics and practice accordingly.
