Can someone explain the functions of different plant hormones in control and coordination in plants?

Plant hormones, also known as phytohormones, play a crucial role in control and coordination in plants. Here are the primary plant hormones and their functions:

  • Auxins: Promote cell elongation, root formation, and differentiation. They also help in the growth of plant parts towards light (phototropism).
  • Gibberellins: Promote stem elongation, seed germination, and flowering. They are also involved in breaking seed dormancy.
  • Cytokinins: Promote cell division and differentiation, delay leaf aging, and work in conjunction with auxins to control growth and development.
  • Abscisic Acid (ABA): Inhibits growth, promotes stomatal closure during water stress, and induces seed dormancy.
  • Ethylene: Promotes fruit ripening, leaf abscission, and is involved in response to mechanical stress.
