Gene Expression

Asked by Pran Khur20 · 1 year ago

How does gene expression occur in cells?

1 Answer

Gene expression is the process by which information from a gene is used to create a functional product, usually a protein. It involves two main steps:

1. Transcription: DNA is transcribed into mRNA in the nucleus.
2. Translation: mRNA is translated into protein by ribosomes in the cytoplasm.

This process is regulated at various stages to control which genes are expressed and when, allowing cells to respond to their environment and perform specific functions.
