Ionization Enthalpy Basics

Asked by Anusha Malhotra · 2 years ago

What is ionization enthalpy and why is it important?

1 Answer

Ionization enthalpy is the amount of energy required to remove an electron from an isolated gaseous atom to form a cation. It is important because it gives insight into the reactivity of elements; elements with low ionization enthalpy tend to lose electrons easily and are more reactive.
