How do you name hydrocarbons using IUPAC nomenclature?

To name hydrocarbons using IUPAC nomenclature:
- Identify the longest carbon chain
- Number the carbons to give substituents the lowest possible numbers
- Name substituents as prefixes
- Use the appropriate suffix for the hydrocarbon type (-ane for alkanes, -ene for alkenes, -yne for alkynes)
- Combine the parts in the order: prefixes + parent chain name + suffix
