What is the mechanism of the Finkelstein reaction?

1 Answer

The Finkelstein reaction follows an SN2 mechanism, where the nucleophile (NaI) attacks the carbon atom bonded to the halogen (e.g., Cl) from the opposite side, leading to the formation of a new carbon-halogen bond (C-I) and the release of the halide ion (Cl-).
