How are elements arranged in the modern periodic table?

Elements in the modern periodic table are arranged:
- In order of increasing atomic number
- In periods (horizontal rows) and groups (vertical columns)
- Elements in the same group have similar chemical properties
- Periods show gradual changes in properties from left to right
- The table is divided into s-block, p-block, d-block, and f-block elements
