Respiration in plant

I didn't get clearity abt these line : topic is DO PLANTS BREATHES : its been mentioned that cells of stem will be dead then why they are provided with lenticels?

Every living organism in this world including all plants and animal carry out metabolism Metabolism is sum of the chemical reaction in body to carry out metabolism plants undergo respiration which require O2 but this is available internally through photosynthesis

And stem is dead but internal content made of parenchymatous cell Which produce outside as lenticels .

They help to absorb oxygen from surface of plant
