RMS Value of AC

Asked by Sarvadaman Gupta · 1 year ago

What is the RMS (Root Mean Square) value of AC and why is it important?

1 Answer

The RMS value of AC is the equivalent steady DC value that would produce the same heating effect. For a sinusoidal AC, the RMS value is equal to the peak value divided by √2. It's important because it allows us to compare the effective value of AC to DC, and is used in power calculations.
