What is the SI unit of surface tension?

1 Answer

The SI unit of surface tension is:

Newton per meter (N/m)

This unit represents the force per unit length. Surface tension can be thought of as the force required to create a new surface area. Alternatively, it can also be expressed in terms of energy per unit area, which gives the same dimensional formula:

Joule per square meter (J/m²)

Both N/m and J/m² are dimensionally equivalent and can be used interchangeably.
