The standard enthalpy of combustion of aniline is -3399kJ at 298K.Calculate it's standard enthalpy of formation. Given the standard enthalpies of CO2 gas, H2O liqiud and NO2 gas are -392.2,-286.9 and 33.2kJ respectively. Give the reaction for which the result has been calculated?

1 Answer

In this case you have to balance the reaction , and equate heat of reaction on both side of the reaction It comes out to be C6H5NH2 + 31/4 O2 =6C02 +7/2H2O +1/2NH2 Now heat of reaction for different compounds formed are given , multiply them according to no of moles formed, and equate witj heat of combustion of Aniline, you will find Similar value in RHS and LHS of the given balanced chemical reaction.
