Spindle Fibers in Cell Division

Asked by Krishna Kumar · 2 years ago

What are spindle fibers and what is their role in cell division?

1 Answer

Spindle fibers are protein structures that form during cell division (mitosis and meiosis). They are composed of microtubules and play a crucial role in separating chromosomes during the anaphase stage. Spindle fibers attach to the centromeres of chromosomes and pull them apart, ensuring equal distribution of genetic material to daughter cells.
