stability in transition elements

Asked by Thaheera Quathoun · 5 years ago

theory question:

are Cu,Pd,Ag completely filled stable transition elements? bcz they have only 1 electron in s orbital is that considered as stable.

same as with Cr,Mo also have only 1 electron in s orbital and incompletely filled d orbital.

im a bit confused with plz explain this!!

yes they are stable elements as the have completely filled subshell but if they loose the 1 electron in s subshell they will become more stable.that is the reason why these elements has lowest 1st ionisation energy and highest 2nd ionisation energy
