Structure of Oxoacids

Asked by Anika Kapoor · 1 year ago

What is the general structure of oxoacids and how do they differ from other acids?

1 Answer

Oxoacids are acids that contain oxygen. Their general structure is H-O-X=O, where X is usually a non-metal. They differ from other acids as they always contain at least one oxygen atom bonded to the central atom. Examples include HNO3 (nitric acid) and H2SO4 (sulfuric acid).
