Understanding Aestivation in Plants

Asked by Aman Aman · 2 years ago

Can someone explain what aestivation is in plants and its significance?

1 Answer

Aestivation is the arrangement of sepals and petals in a flower bud, before it opens. It is significant because it helps in the identification and classification of plants. There are different types of aestivation such as valvate, twisted, imbricate, and vexillary. Each type has a unique pattern that aids botanists in studying plant species.
