Understanding Electric Field Intensity

Asked by Mani JK · 2 years ago

What is electric field intensity and how is it defined according to the NCERT syllabus?

1 Answer

Electric Field Intensity is a vector quantity that represents the force experienced per unit positive charge at a point in an electric field. According to the NCERT syllabus, it is defined as:

The electric field intensity at a point is the force experienced by a unit positive charge placed at that point in the electric field.

Mathematically, it is given by:

E = F / q

where E is the electric field intensity, F is the force experienced, and q is the charge.

The SI unit of electric field intensity is Newton per Coulomb (N/C).
