Understanding the Nature of Electromagnetic Waves

Asked by Neeta K · 2 years ago

Can someone explain what electromagnetic waves are and how they are formed?

1 Answer

Electromagnetic Waves: Electromagnetic waves are waves that are created as a result of vibrations between an electric field and a magnetic field. In other words, they are composed of oscillating electric and magnetic fields that are perpendicular to each other and to the direction of wave propagation.

Formation: Electromagnetic waves are formed when a charged particle, such as an electron, is accelerated. When this happens, the electric and magnetic fields around the particle begin to oscillate and generate electromagnetic waves. These waves are capable of traveling through the vacuum of space as well as through a medium.
