What is Androecium?

Asked by Sarva Rao · 2 years ago

Can someone explain what exactly is androecium in a flower and its role?

1 Answer

The androecium is the male reproductive part of a flower. It is composed of stamens, each of which consists of an anther and a filament. The anther contains pollen sacs where pollen grains are produced. These pollen grains are necessary for the fertilization process in plants. The main role of the androecium is to produce and release pollen, which will then fertilize the ovules in the gynoecium (female reproductive part).
