What is the molecular mass of NaOH?

Asked by Siddhu Sakth · 2 years ago

Can someone please explain how to calculate the molecular mass of NaOH?

1 Answer

The molecular mass of a compound is the sum of the atomic masses of all the atoms in its molecule. To calculate the molecular mass of NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide):

  • Atomic mass of Sodium (Na) = 23 u
  • Atomic mass of Oxygen (O) = 16 u
  • Atomic mass of Hydrogen (H) = 1 u

Therefore, the molecular mass of NaOH is:

23 (Na) + 16 (O) + 1 (H) = 40 u
