Asked by Akshara Venkatesan · 2 years ago

I have read that the molecular mass of NaOH is 40 u, but why is it important to know the molecular mass?

1 Answer

The molecular mass of NaOH is important for several reasons:

  • Stoichiometry: It helps in calculating the amounts of reactants and products in chemical reactions.
  • Concentration: It is used to prepare solutions of specific molarity (moles of solute per liter of solution).
  • Conversions: It allows conversion between grams and moles, which is essential in laboratory calculations.
  • Understanding Properties: Knowing the molecular mass helps in understanding the physical and chemical properties of the compound.
