So, sucrose is dextrorotatory but after hydrolysis gives dextrorotatory glucose and laevorotatory fructose. D-(-)-fructose has a greater specific rotation than D-(+)-glucose. Therefore, the resultant solution is laevorotatory in nature with specific rotation of -39.9$°$.
